30 pictures in 30 days: Day 4

Day 4: October 28, 2011

Leaving work after a 10 & 1/2 hour day.  This was the first time I had been outside since 6:30am.

30 pictures in 30 days: Day 3

Day 3: October 27, 2011

On this day, my son received confirmation from our church.  Here he is standing with his sponsor.  His Nana.

30 pictures in 30 days; Day 2

Day 2: October 26, 2011

OK, so I have not posted them each
day but I have taken each picture on a different day.  Every Wednesday, I am dropping or picking up my son at his swim practice.   Here is a picture of the pool that he practices in.  Can you find him?  He is in one of the far lanes.  No, I can't either.

30 pictures in 30 days

Originally inspired by a TED talks video about trying something new I decided to try something new for 30 days.  One to see how long I would stick it out but two to see what I could learn from it.

Day 1: October 25, 2011
Today I took a half day at work to run some errands and to help transport my children to their different activities.  I found myself at two different libraries in the same day.  This photo is taken outside a library, where there is a small sitting area that reminds me of some kind of Halo reference.

Johnny Cupcakes in person!

Just about a year ago I was in Boston walking around Newbury Street looking for Newbury Comics and noticed another store that I had never heard of so when I got home I did a little research.
I posted an MTV clip on my blog about this guy who sells T-shirts. Just this week I was able to meet him. Yes, I am talking about Johnny Cupcakes. He came to Cincinnati on May 2, 2010 to promote his "Back to Basics" Tour.

I have been following the tour on his website, and figured I would stop by. I was a little worried about the lines but it had been raining all day so I hoped the lines would be short. I dragged by son and two brother-in-laws for the ride. We arrived at Corporate (store name) about an hour after the start and only had to wait about 45 minutes. They also served free hot chocolate to those in line.

I understand that he sells T-shirts and he has grown his business from selling out of his car to having two stores but people still ask me, "what else does he do?" I think the draw to this company is the exclusiveness of the group. The company has grown mainly by word of mouth. He sells limited editions of his product and that keeps people coming back for more. He is also fun and keeps things interesting by doing special tours like this one, new release parties on Halloween or maybe he is just a little odd. Whatever it is people like to follow him and buy his product.

I won't lie, I think it is cool to meet someone that you have been reading about and following on-line. Also, I think I went to visit as a sign of support plus I would like to start my own business and follow my own rules to success. Here is the video Blog of his trip to Cincinnati...enjoy. (see if you can find me...hint @ 5-minute mark)
